Support and Advocacy
ANKORS' Support and Advocacy team provides:- Outreach, support and advocacy for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and their support persons. Including: visiting individuals in their home or home communities to provide information on services and support available for health, social and financial issues or concerns.
- Crisis intervention counseling, intake counseling and referral and ongoing support counseling for positive individuals and their support.
- Advocacy on the behalf of individuals living with HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C within the public and private sector.
- Individual Advocacy to ensure that each positive person receives a high standard of care and support from health care providers and support services.
- Provision and support for caregivers during health and emotional crisis to ensure that the positive individual and their family are receiving support from the appropriate Care Team partners.
- Information for positive individuals and their caregivers on HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C medical and holistic treatment options and practices.
- A bi-monthly HIV support group for individuals living with HIV/AIDS, as well as Life skills groups for individuals living with Hep C and or HIV. ANKORS also hosts social gatherings to build community and sustainability for individuals, volunteers and staff.
