Aids Walk 2009

Welcome to Nelson AIDS Walk 2009!

ANKORS is hosting the 15th annual AIDS Walk for Life on Saturday September 19th.  We are inviting all members of the community to come and take part in this fundraising event.

Registration and warm-up begins at Hall and Baker Street, in Nelson, at 10:30. The walk will start at 12, and a post walk party follows back at Rotary Park. Join us for a BBQ, music and entertainment.

We are a member of the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life Canada, the National Fundraising campaign to support local AIDS organizations across Canada. Last year, walkers from the West Kootenay/Boundary region joined with over 120 communities across Canada to participate in the Walk.

This year the AIDS Walk for Life will focus on some of the social issues that put members of our community at greater risk. Poverty, homelessness and lack of social support play a large role in contributing to the rising infection rates of HIV/AIDS, and the West Kootenay/Boundary Region is overwhelmed by the demand for services

AIDS Walk is Canada’s largest single day event for HIV fundraising and awareness, so participate as an individual, team, or volunteer. 100% of the proceeds raised from the walk are used to help individuals living with HIV/AIDS in the West Kootenay Boundary Region.
